St. Mary's Finance Council seeks to aid the pastor in the administration of parish goods according to the norms set forth in the "Policy on the Finance Council" Effective 2005, and by the Diocese of Austin, St. Mary Catholic Church, and by the 1983 Code of Canon Law. The Finance Council will assist the pastor in the following:
The Finance Council will be comprised of not less than three parishioners who are Catholic (exception noted in diocesan policy), possess experience/expertise in business, finance, or law; and demonstrate commitment to the work of the Church. Members are appointed by the pastor for a minimum of three years, with renewable terms possible, or until a change in pastors occurs. Council will have a minimum of four meetings per year.
The Council interacts closely with the parish Pastoral Council, and, like the Pastoral Council, is a unit of service, not authority.
