The MISSION of St. Mary Catholic Church Religious Education Program is to bring Jesus Christ and His message to children and youth of our parish and aid parents in their faith formation through an ongoing encounter with His Holy Catholic Church within a caring faith community.
Our primary objective is to deepen your children's relationship with Jesus: to give them opportunities to unite with Him in the Eucharist, to help them experience the wonder and awe of the gift of Jesus' Real Presence in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar; to meet Him in scripture, where we live the stories and learn the lessons He taught; to know Him through the teachings of His Church and the loving support of the family of St. Mary's church community. Your children, ages Pre-K4 through High School - 9th grade, are eligible for the Religious Education Program of our parish. In accordance with policy, a child must be of the following age categories by September 1:
- Four (4) years old to enter Pre-K4 (PK4);
- Five (5) years old to enter Kindergarten;
- To enter Grade 1, a child must be six (6) years old by September 1;
- All other placements are made equivalent to the child's current public school grade.
Sacramental preparation classes are discussed in the Parent-Student Handbook, St. Mary Catholic School, under "Sacramental Preparation."
Guidelines (not all-inclusive; see Parent-Student Handbook for more info):
Baptism and Penance/Reconciliation are prerequisites for the reception of the sacrament of First Communion/Holy Eucharist. If your child has not yet been baptized, please make arrangements at the earliest possible convenience to celebrate this Sacrament.
As a parent, some of your resources include the Parent-Student Handbook, the calendar, parent sessions, parent/class visitations, catechists, and the Director of Religious Education.
