Winner of Knights Of Columbus gun raffle for week 44 is Nate Lambert.
The Knights of Columbus have their beginnings stretching back to 1882 when the state of Connecticut granted them an official charter thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven. The orders four principles still guide Knights today--Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Charity and the Catholic faith lead Knights to "love their neighbor as thyself." Knights actively, spiritually and financially support many ministries.
Unity leads Knights as they join together and accomplish that which one person cannot do alone both in the church community and in the community at large.
Fraternity lends a helping hand to widows and orphans historically and today through affordable, top-rated insurance programs in addition to Knights helping the disabled and sick. Knights have evolved to include assisting church and community.
Patriotism is highly regarded and protected by Knights irregardless of their nationality. Knights cherish God and their country.

The following summary was written by a Knight from this council while attending the Knights convention in Houston, ". . . I looked around at the large number of Knights and ladies and families from around the state of Texas. Tall, short, big and small! Many ethnic groups together. The theme this year [2015] is "we are one." This is why I come to these conferences . . . But it is when we gather "as one" that the strength of what we do for our church, families, communities and for the world is evident. When we are struggling in mediocrity, indecision and doubt, remember that when gathered "as one" in fraternal spirit and in faith, that we make a tremendous difference . . . "
