St. Mary's parish was established in 1883 with Rev. John Lauth, and a parochial school was begun in 1897 under the name of St. Mary's Academy by Father Heckman, pastor of St. Mary's Church. Under Fr. Heckman's direction, and with the active support of dedicated parishioners, the Divine Providence Sisters taught at the school for several years.
Numerous priests, deacons, Sisters of the Incarnate Word, Sisters of Divine Providence, and other "religious", as well as the faithful laity, have served the St. Mary school community through the years. Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family can make on behalf of the children. St. Mary's Catholic School recognizes parents as the primary educators of their children and work in partnership with them both on and off the campus. The school has been given the gift of providing quality Catholic education to its students and strongly believes the miracles each child carries within.
In general, Catholic schools tend to operate as communities that build an environment of learning, mission, and purpose that positively impact student achievement and attendance. Catholic school graduates have higher academic achievement, higher levels of happiness, more confidence and trust in people and relationships, and more support for equality of all. Graduates of Catholic high schools are more likely to vote and more likely to earn higher wages. Attending Catholic elementary and high school increases the likelihood of attending weekly Mass as adults and decreases the likelihood of young people leaving the Church later in life. *
The school is now accepting applications for enrollment. Click here to visit the website for more information or call (254)778-8141 for a tour or appointment. St Mary's Catholic School welcomes new students throughout the school year. We look forward to hearing from you.
