Youth Ministry Happenings!
December 16th 6:30 pm – 7:45 pm: The Religious Education classes, their parents and all parishioners are invited to the Las Posadas. The High School RE class, the Middle School RE class and the Youth Ministry are leading everyone in Las Posadas (The Doors). A Catholic tradition in Mexico and Central America. All, especially the RE children are asked to come dressed up like a shepherd (in a bathrobe and or a towel tied on your head) or a woman from the Bible (in a bathrobe and or with a long scarf over your head). Meet on the Church front steps at 6:30 pm to end around 7:45 in the Ave Maria Bldg. for refreshments. Hope to see everyone there. Please come join us to celebrate the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ!
November & December:
The Youth Ministry has been busy these past few months supporting St. Mary Church and the Temple community. In November, the Ministry hosted Under the Stars Movie Night. Many families and adults came with blankets and chairs to enjoy the movie, CoCo. There was plenty of popcorn, candy, and drinks to enjoy! The Temple Police Department even came to say HI and hand out glow sticks and safety information! What a great church and community event! In the Spring, we are planning another Under the Stars Movie Night, so keep an eye on the bulletin!
The St. Mary Youth Group has been active in the parish and the Temple community since the group’s Kick Off Ice Cream Social September 20th. ~ ~ Saturday October 3rd and November 7th, several teens and adults joined in the Feed My Sheep Food Pantry distribution. ~ ~ October 10th, a large group of Youth members gathered at the Church field to play volleyball, eat pizza and help celebrate Fr. Kurtis for Pastor Appreciation Day! The teens enjoyed using sidewalk chalk to draw pictures and write messages of appreciation on the sidewalk in front of the Parish Office for Fr. Kurtis to enjoy! Mrs. Pena and family baked and decorated cupcakes like sheep to give to Fr. Kurtis our parish shepherd. Father shared the cupcakes with the youth.
~ October 28th at Religious Education, the High School RE class and Youth Group members dressed up as Saints to lead the games for the younger RE students! Everyone had fun playing games, seeing the different Saints, and enjoying everyone’s company! Great job teens!
~ October 31st at the St. Mary School Carnival, Youth Group members gathered again! This time it was to run a booth for Hand & Foot Painting crafts. There was some face painting going on too! People were highly creative and had a spootacular time!
~ November 7th was Youth Group Outdoor Movie Night! The movie CoCo was shown under the stars on the Parish soccer field as families enjoyed popcorn, candy, and soda! We all social distanced by separating our blankets and chairs. It was such a great time; we might do another Movie Night sometime. Keep an eye on the bulletin.
~ November 14th, the Confirmation teens will attend an all-day retreat at St. Luke as a requirement for celebrating Confirmation March 20th.
~ March 15th after all the Sunday Masses the Youth Group is hosting a BAKE SALE to raise funds to attend DCYC and other events and functions they want to do. Some items being sold are donated by ladies of the Parish, made by the moms of Youth Group members and Youth Group members themselves.
~ December 6th at the Breakfast with St. Nick, the Youth Group will host a cookie Decorating Table for the children to enjoy. People are asked to bring canned goods to donate to the local Feed My Sheep Food Pantry.
~ December 13th, the Youth Group will gather 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm to celebrate a Friendsgiving Christmas. From the start of the Youth Group in September, many of the members have been involved in a wide variety of functions. With their involvement and the parish’s support teens will keep this ministry going strong.
Teens are always invited to attend Youth Group Events. Adults are welcome to be Leaders.
