“Give…to God what belongs to God.” (Mt 22:21) Jesus tells us today give to Cesar what is Cesar’s but to God what is God’s. He invites us to justice at every level. He responds to this fundamental need for justice by going to its root. Have we allowed ourselves to be convicted by the Holy Spirit of our sins and failures so that we can know the surpassing love and mercy of a savior who not only comes not to give us the appearance of justice but rather what our hearts desire: to be just?
