Confirmation, First Holy Communion, Reconciliation, Family Catechesis, Middle School, and High School

The mission of St. Mary Catholic Church Religious Education Program is to help children and youth know, love, and serve Jesus Christ and proclaim him to others. We aid parents in their children’s faith formation through an ongoing encounter with His Holy Catholic Church within a caring faith community.

Our primary objective is to deepen our children’s relationship with Jesus to give them opportunities to unite with Him in the Eucharist, to help them experience the wonder and awe of the gift of Jesus’ Real Presence in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar; to meet Him in scripture, where we live the stories and learn the lessons He taught; to know Him through the teachings of His Church and the loving support of the family of  St. Mary church community. Children, ages Pre-K4 through high schoolers, are eligible for the Religious Education Program.  In accordance with policy, a child must be of the following age categories by September 1:

  • Four (4) years old to enter Pre-K4 (PK4);
  • Five (5) years old to enter Kindergarten;
  • To enter Grade 1, a child must be six (6) years old by September 1;
  • All other placements are made equivalent to the child’s current public school grade.

Sacramental preparation classes are discussed in the Parent-Student Handbook, St. Mary Catholic School, under “Sacramental Preparation.”  Baptism and Reconciliation are prerequisites for the reception of the sacrament of First Communion/Holy Eucharist.  If your child has not yet been baptized, please make arrangements at the earliest possible convenience to celebrate this Sacrament.

Please prayerfully consider becoming a volunteer and make a difference in a young person’s life.  Contact parish office at 254-773-4541 for additional information.
